The Character
Ever find yourself in a mood? Do you play sad songs just to feel sadder?
It’s almost as if you’ve stepped into a movie and you’re playing a character.
Who is this character? Where do they come from?
What you hear and who you socialize with form your internal dialogue. Be aware of this. (Charles, 2015)
They are a product of the dialogues you’ve had during the time you were growing up and internalizing how to speak. This character is an amalgamation of the dominant traits and stories you tell yourself.
They are not you.
Simulated Reality, Tell the Truth
One of the most soul-crushing experiences is to find out that something you thought of as an integral part of the world (religion, facts, relationships) is not the way you believed it to be. Why?
You’ve hardcoded your truth into the worldview you hold, and to find that any part of it is incorrect sends a large ripple across the landscape of your conceptual map of existence.
Tell the truth
When you lie, you build someone else’s world on a false foundation. When you spout off things you don’t know are true, you build shoddy walls and bridges on the landscape of someone else’s reality. This is irresponsible to them. Think how many people have already done this to you. How crushing is it to find out you were cheated on? How painful is it to find out you were lied to?
